鎳的基本含義：

鎳，近似銀白色，硬而有延展性，具有鐵磁性的金屬元素。鎳不溶于水，常溫下在潮濕空氣中表面形成致密的氧化膜，能阻止本體金屬繼續氧化。不易與濃硝酸反應，在稀酸中可緩慢溶解。

2.REACH附錄17對于鎳釋放量的要求限制：

Council Regulation (EC) N0. 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) prescribes that Cadmium and Lead shall not be used or placed on the market if the concentration is equal to or greater than 0,01% and 0,05% respectively, by weight of the metal in metal parts of jewellery and imitation jewellery articles and hair accessories.
Additionally, Nickel shall not be used in articles intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin such as necklaces, if the rate of Nickel release from the parts of these articles coming into direct and prolonged contact with the skin is greater than 0,5 µg/cm² /week.

關于化學品注冊、評估、授權和限制（REACH）的1907/2006號文件規定，如果鎘和鉛的濃度分別等于或大于首飾、仿珠寶制品和頭發金屬部分中金屬重量的0.01%和0.05%，則不得使用或投放市場配件。

此外，如果直接和長時間接觸皮膚的物品（如項鏈）的鎳釋放率大于0.5µg/cm²/周，則不得將鎳用于與皮膚直接和長期接觸的物品中。
